To Throw or Not To Throw (Pillows!)

I haven't met many couches I couldn't imagine throw pillows on. Throw pillows are the easiest way to add color to a room and really spruce up your couch, chair or even bed. There are plenty of fabric options, color and pattern choices- so there's no excuse not to get your throw on.

I've selected a few of my favorite pattern and color choices to help inspire the Alluminare.com shopper. First, I'm so inloved with geometric patterns (shown in Marseille) mixed with bright colors. The combination of a bright color, bold pattern with white lines is magic! If you don't want to go overboard with your throw pillows and splash of color, this combination is perfect for you. The pattern is classic, as well as the color choice. This gold color goes with almost any sofa color.

Next, please don't be afraid of animal prints. I've shown you how fabulous Giraffe print can look on a lamp shade, now see how great Zebra print can look on a throw pillow. Instead of choosing black and white for Zebra (and inevitably looking tacky) choose a bright color that turns the animal print into a great pattern.

Another very popular print is Paisley- it's been around for thousands of years and stems from China. It's one of my favorite prints because you can place it on the walls, sheets, pillows, etc. It also looks great in a ton of color combinations.

There are several ways to use throw pillows in rooms. The best way to bring a pop of color is to do it in threes. Put a red pillow on the couch, red curtains and a red vase. For example, I have a green throw pillow on my couch, a small green lamp with black lampshade on a side table, and then I have the same color green in one of the pictures I have hanging on the wall.

You can also use the same color, but different pattern throw pillows to decorate a bed or couch. The pattern doesn't necessarily have to match, but the color should (or vice versa).
