Choosing Perfect Lamp Shades for Your Home

I would like to know how to choose the correct lamp shades for my table lamps. I have two that I bought at a local store, but did not have shades. I am replacing Tiffany lamps that I no longer like.

Choosing perfect lamp shades can be a challenge. The first thing to look for is how they are supposed to be fit. Do your lamps have a harp, or does the lamp shade screw to the socket? Most lamps have a harp, but it is important to check. All of our lampshades are designed for harps.

Next, shape is an important consideration. Drum styles are quite popular right now, and they easily transition from trend to trend; they are always in style because of their clean lines. For our customers who want something a little unusual, we have recently started offering square and oval lampshades as well.

Then, you need to choose a height. We've found a good rule of thumb is to choose a shade that is about 2/3 the height of the lamp base.

Finally, the width of the shade should be in a pleasing proportion to the height, and also needs to suit your purpose. For example, desk lamps should not be too big for the desk, buffet lamps should not be too big for the buffet, etc. Function is the form.
